Servo hydraulic control valve system of Aerotech A3200 was setted for press machine made by BPPT-MEPPO by such method a high accuration can be achieved for the geometry of workpiece. Parameters being tested were the input unit (step), time (ramp) and frequency (bode) to predict occuring circumstances and compared with experimental results. KPos affected on steady-state error value, time-setting and Fc. Ki affected on the steady-state error without changing the value of Fc and PM and errors transition, where in the value of the steady state error was inverted to the error transition. KP eliminated the steady-state errors. The optimized setting was achieved at Kpos = 28.5, Kp = 2.000.000, and Ki = 1970 with error transition state 66 µm and 3 µm steady. Machining of railway components is necessary to be controlled because this process requires precise accuracy and high surface nish of the final product. However, chatter vibration can be an obstacle that leads to negative effects. One of the ways for chatter monitoring in machining is by vibration signal analysis. In this paper, transient vibration signals are analyzed using Hilbert-Huang (HHT) transform and compare to STFT. The results show the excellence of HHT for analysis transient signals for chatter vibration identification correctly in turning process. Frequency transition between frequency of rotational spindle and chatter frequency is well captured using HHT, but STFT is trouble for capturing that one. Abstract :

Design optimization casting emergency stop valve steam turbine, has been done with casting simulation using Magmasoft v5 software. By simulation, some casting design parameters are changed to get more optimal results. Optimization of the design of castings in this study, obtained by improving the design through changes in pouring system using bottom pouring and optimization of riser design. The result of four design casting simulation ESV housing versus filling velocity, solidification, and porosity have the same trend of location defect that is in the flange and middle body valve connection area. However quality of the simulation results, in design # 4 has a better quality of casting results based on the color gradation seen in the range of 80-90%. Pyrolysis zone in the gasification process is the result of the endothermic reaction that get heat from oxidation (combustion) of the fuel with oxygen, where cracking biomass rice husk result of such as charcoal, water vapor, steam tar, and gas - gas (CO, H 2 , CH 4, CO 2 and N 2) and must be maintained at a pyrolysis temperature to obtain results plentiful gas (producer gas) or syngas (synthetic gas). Vitamin B12 is a vitamin required for blood formation and rapidly growing tissues. One of the biosynthetic routes for vitamin B12 is an oxygen-dependent pathway that is found in organisms like Ps. denitrificans. Genes encoding enzymes contributing to the oxygen-dependent cobalamin biosynthesis are recognize by the prefix cob. The highly complicated synthesis makes any industrial production of vitamin B12 by chemical methods far too technically challenging and expensive. The problem had solved by using selected and genetically optimized microorganisms like Ps. denitrificans. The 8, 7 kb DNA fragment carrying Ps denitrificans cob genes has been cloned and expressed in the mother strain. Analysis of land and forest fire has been conducted in relation with smoke haze disaster in Riau province during February and March 2014. Daily hotspot data from NOAA 18 and daily ISPU (Standard Air Pollutant Index) data of the ministry of environment are used in this study. Air quality has been categorized as dangerous for several days with ISPU exceeding 500. The number of hotspot indicating the forest fire reaches 2543, with 1319 hotspots detected in February 2014 and 1224 hotspots in March 2014. The highest number of hotspot is occurred on February 11 with 243 hotspots, while 171 hotspots are detected on March 27.The hotspot distribution is concentrated in Bengkalis with the number of 650 which is 25.6% of total hotspots in Riau Province, followed by Pelalawan with 350 hotspots (13.8%), Siak with 311 hotspots (12.2%), Indragiri Hilir with 309 hotspots (12.2%), Rokan Hilir with 286 hotspots (11.2%), Meranti with 232 hotspots (9.1%), and Dumai with 220 Read more..

Sumba Smart Micro Grid System (SMGS) consist of 500kWp solar plant and 2×110kW diesel engine generator connected in 20kV system and separated by approximately 30km. When shading occur in the PV panel, there will be some changes in solar plant power generation, which may causes grid instability. To compensate the power fluctuation, an automatic diesel control was developed for the diesel engine generator, to form a Smart Diesel Generator system. By using the PLC program and governor speed droop settings, the automatic generator could control the diesel engine generator to compensate the PV power output and perform the load sharing. Several tests has been made to adjust the optimum PI control and speed droop value. The control system consist of PLC and generator control panel and SCADA system for data monitoring and control to give better operational condition for the operator. The purpose of this research is to find out the main cause of failure on the front wall tube to avoid a similar problem in the future. Considering all aspects that have the potential to be the main cause of failure, therefore, many tests and examinations are done, including visual tests, fractography, metallography, chemical analysis, hardness test, SEM, and EDS analysis. Warm rolling merupakan salah satu metode termomekanik yang mempunyai beberapa keuntungan yaitu salah satunya menghasilkan sifat mekanik yang tinggi, namun tidak mengurunkan nilai keuletan karena adanya fenomena rekristalisasi parsial yang menghasilkan butiran baru berbentuk micron. Paper ini menjelaskan tentang hasil penelitian berupa pengaruh persentase reduksi terhadap sifat mekanis paduan Cu-Zn 70/30. Paduan Cu-Zn 70/30 setelah dilakukan proses homogenisasi dan didinginkan di udara lalu dipanaskan ke suhu 300°C, kemudian masing-masing dilakukan warm rolling dengan persentase reduksi sebesar 25%, 30%, dan 35% kemudian ditahan di suhu 300°C dalam waktu 120 menit. Tulisan ini membahas tentang kerusakan polished rod akibat material yang digunakannya bersifat getas dan memiliki mikrostruktur yang tidak homogen. Pemeriksaan pada polished rod dari pompa angguk menggunakan metode pengamatan visual, fraktografi makro, metalografi, uji kekerasan, analisa komposisi kimia, pemeriksaan SEM, serta uji komposisi produk korosi dengan EDS. Hasil pemeriksaan visual dan uji penetran menunjukkan adanya retak melintang yang menyebar pada satu sisi permukaan polished rod menunjukkan bahwa polished rod mengalami pembebanan bending sebelum patah. Sedangkan hasil pemeriksaan fraktografi memperlihatkan adanya daerah patahan getas dengan pola radial mark yang menandakan bahwa jenis pembebanan merupakan beban statis dengan alur perambatan yang berlangsung cepat. Paduan Cu-Zn 70/30 sering diaplikasikan utuk berbagai bidang industri salah satunya adalah core dan tank radiator otomotif, komponen munisi maupun perangkat perangkat bangunan dan arsitektur sehingga sangat rentan terpapar oleh lingkungan air laut dan amonia. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini digunakan metode TMCP dengan canai hangat untuk meningkatkan sifat mekanik dan ketahanan korosi paduan Cu-Zn 70/30. Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Processing (TMCP) adalah salah satu metode rangkaian pengontrolan pemanasan dan pembentukan dengan tujuan meningkatkan kualitas sifat material. Bahan baku baja karbon selama ini kebanyakan berasal dari biji besi hematit. Kurangnya tersediaan bahan baku bijih besi ini di Indonesia mendorong perusahaan besi baja untuk membuat baja karbon dari mineral laterit yang tersebar di Indonesia dengan kandungan Fe cukup tinggi sekitar 50%. Baja laterit masih diproduksi terbatas dan belum banyak diaplikasikan. Salah satu contoh baja laterit adalah sebagai material atap jembatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan NaCl (ppm) terhadap laju korosi baja karbon dari bijih besi laterit pada lingkungan air danau. Komposisi baja laterit adalah terdapat elemen tambahan Ni dan Cr sehingga baja laterit digolongkan sebagai baja paduan rendah (low alloy steel). 7-aminocephalosporanic acid (7-ACA) is an important intermediate compound for producing of most cephalosporin derivatives. It could be synthetized by conversion of cephalosporin C (CPC) in single step using cephalosporin acylase. The application enzymatic conversion is hampered by low activity of enzyme using CPC as the main substrate. Modification of AcyII genes from Pseudomonas SE83 produced S12 variant that could expressed CPC acylase with high-activityon CPC. Based on S12 variant sequence, a synthetic gene was constructed and subsequently transformed to E. coli. The expression of target proteins were performed using LB medium supplemented with ampicillin. Preliminary experiments showed that the target protein (CPC acylase) partially remained as the inclusion bodies. Abstract :

Biosurfactant-producing microorganisms have been isolated from contaminated sea water, taken from several docksites in Indonesia. Five of the 155 isolates were able to produce high biosurfactants through a fermentation processusing Marine Broth (Difco) as production medium. Isolate ML4-10, isolated from area at Pertamina oil refinerydock in Cilacap, showed the highest ability to produce biosurfactants. The biosurfactant showed high emulsificationand oil displacement activity, i.e. 54.1 ± 0.8 and 10.5 ± 0.3, respectively. Biosurfactant from ML4-10 also showedpositive value on oil drop test. In the emulsification and oil displacement activity test using various oil sources, thebiosurfactants of ML4-10 also showed high activities, suggesting that biosurfactants has a wide potentialapplication. Rubber from Hevea brasiliensis is the only commercial natural rubber in the world. Propagation of rubber trees usually done by grafting and seed germination. BPPT had been producing rubber tree by in vitro technique with embryo somatic methods. Validation of mother plant for in vitro propagation is important to compare between mother plant and propagated plants. The aim for this research was to validation of PB 260 clone that planted at Cikumpay Plantation by SSR marker. Sampling of 10 rubber leaves were done at Cikumpay Plantation based on GPS position from the area of PB 260 clone. Rubber leaves were isolatedwith CTAB modification method to obtained DNA. Four of SSR primers from rubber, i.e.: hmac 4, hmac 5, hmct 1, and hmct 5, were used as primers to amplification of rubber DNA. The Satoimo Plant (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott var Antiquorum) or better known as Talas Jepang, has now begun to be cultivated in Indonesia. One of the cultivation area in Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi Province. It is already exported aboard. Satoimo which available in the market know as Talas Safira. Satoimo productivity is now declining due to bad quality of mother plant used as the source of the seed. To add type of varieties and improve the quality of breed plant, the current Balai Bioteknologi, BPPT has conducted a preliminary study through induction of mutation by gamma ray irradiation technique. The results obtained Satoimo’s radiosensitivity (LD50) at dose 25 Gray. The shoots growth was which inhibited but managed to grow 34 number of plant then selected by planted in the field. Considering the trajectories, welding robot may be divided into two classes, are class of spot welding and arc welding. The background of this research is how to develop a simple control method for an x-y trajectory arc type welding robot, where the position and velocity of the end effector are the important parameters. In this research, the robot as a moving table that has two degree of freedom, with rigid arm and prismatic joint. The software that has been developed in this research is to control the position, velocity and acceleration of trajectories of the robot’s end effector. The trajectories are constituted of very small element of straight and/or arc motion. To be realistic, the control parameters are only initial position, final position, and the motion time needed. For the arc motion another parameter needed is arc radius. This result was also supported by other trial tests for various interpolation trajectories, that give errors were less than 0.5 mm. The redundancy in digital image representation can be classified into two categories: local and global. The classical compression schemes only exploited one of these redundancies. Two image characteristics that give rise the local and global redundancy in image representation, are smoothness and similarity. This article is written as a result of developing a lossless image compression scheme that exploits redundancy both at local and global in order to obtain maximum compression efficiency. This scheme segments the digital image into variable size blocks and encodes them depending on the characteristics exhibited by the pixels within the block. Abstract :

This work presents the preliminary finding of a pilot scale demonstration for the purification of hot prefiltered sugarcane juice by ultrafiltration (UF) membrane. The investigation were carried out on-site at The Rejo Agung Sugar Mills ( Madiun ) of Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia Ltd. The UF demonstration plant was designed for 4 m3/hr feed capacity using spiral wound polymeric membrane module. This research is part of the effort to develop an economic process for the direct production of sulphur free, refined quality sugar without going through the chemically conventional sugar refining route. It was observed that UF membrane consistently yielded a light colored, sparkling filtrate with about 50% reduction in juice colour, 100% reduction in dextran, 99% reduction in turbidity and 76 % reduction in polysaccharides. This demonstration plant is one of the few instances world-wide where polymeric membrane modules have been successfully employed for cane sugar processing. Read more..
