The present study is concerned with optimalization condition of acetic acid fermentation by Acetobacter aceti B166. Some variable process, like alcohol concentration, pH and fermentation time were observed to find the optimum condition acetic acid production process. Media Hoyer was used in this study. The composition of media are : alcohol 6- 12 %; ( NH4)2SO4  0.18%; K2HPO4  0.01% ; KH2PO4  0.09% ; MgSO4. 7H2O  0.025% and FeCl2.6H2O  0.002%. When a green alga Haematococcus pluvialis was cultivated at 30~ astaxanthin production was 3-fold more increased than at 20~ With acetate supplementation to 30~ culture, the alga synthesized over 2-fold more carotenoid than without addition. Tiron, a radical scavenger, however, severely blocked the stimulated earotenogenesis, suggesting that endogenously generated active oxygen was responsible for the highly stimulated carotenogenesis. Biodiesel or methyl ester is a product resulting from the transesterification of vegetable oils(mono-, di-, tri-glyceride) with methanol. In terms of quality biodiesel namely SNI 04-7182-2006Indonesia, there are 18 parameters that become the standard quality test. Testing all of theseparameters requires a long time and the cost is quite expensive, hence creating a barrier for smalltomedium-scale industry.Among the 18 parameters, there are parameters of the total glycerol content, alkyl ester content,viscosity, and temperature of distillation. Total glycerol is the amount of glycerol in the form ofmono-, di-, and tri-glyceride (glycerol bound) and glycerol (free glycerol) contained in biodiesel. The current issue in biodiesel implementation in Indonesia is fuel filter clogging caused by precipitates. Some studies show that the saturated monoglycerides (SMGs) contribute the formation of precipitates in biodiesels. This research used the GC-MS method with the selected ion monitoring (SIM) approach to quantify SMG in palm oil biodiesel. Monomyristin (1-C14:0), monopalmitin (1-C16:0), monostearin (1-C18:0) and monoarachidin (1-C20:0) were selected as model compounds. The analysis was carried out using thermo scientific GC-MS equipped with a 5% phenyl methyl siloxane column (30 mx0.25 mmx0.25 μm). The fragmentation ion of certified reference material (CRM) of SMGs was determined by utilizing a scanning approach. Then, the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) of each CRM was calculated by SIM to obtained SMG content at concentration 0.1, 0.05 and 0.025 μg mL-1 with S N-1 ratio 3 and 9, respectively. Selain dapat dibuat dari minyak nabati, biodiesel juga dapat dibuat dari asam lemak, misalnya PFAD (Palm Fatty Acid Distillate). Dalam proses pembuatannya, terkadang didapati sampel biodiesel dengan kadar asam lemak yang tinggi akibat asam lemak yang tidak terkonversi menjadi biodiesel. Untuk mengetahui komposisi asam lemak dalam biodiesel tersebut, dilakukan analisis dengan GC-MS. Metode preparasi sampel minyak dengan GC-MS yang umum dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan metilasi terhadap sampel. Namun metode tersebut tidak dapat membedakan metil ester dengan asam lemak yang telah menjadi metil ester. Existing literature shows that continuous use of biodiesel could lead to higher growth of deposits on critical engine components, contributing to lots of problems that could ultimately decrease engine performance. In this context, endurance tests were performed to compare the impacts of B50 and Indonesian biodiesel fuel (IBF: diesel fuel containing 10% palm oil biodiesel) on engine durability. More specifically, deposits growth as well as deposits structure and composition in response to the application of the above-mentioned fuel blends were investigated over 200 h. Production cost assessment was based on palm oil mill of 30 metrics tons FFB/h capacity that produced EFB residue atapp. 20 % wt of the initial FFB fed to the plant. The bio-oil plant will be located in the palm oil mill complex to eliminate thetransportation cost of the EFB feedstock. The process included in this calculation is chopping, drying, grinding, pyrolysis, solidremoval, bio oil recovery, and storage. The production cost is influenced by the amount of bio-oil production, material cost,operational cost including labor and utility cost. The sensitivity analysis shows that feedstock price drives the production cost. Theresult concludes that for the current condition, the bio-oil production cost from palm empty fruit bunch seems promising to beimplemented in Indonesia. Linear and quadratic damping coefficients can be obtained by solving the equation of motion as energy dissipated in motion decay for each half roll period (T/2). In this study results of the analysis of the effect of quadratic b on the prediction of the decay motion of the INA TEWS Generation 3.1 Buoy model are presented. The result of decay model test is that the natural roll period value is 1.726 sec, with linear damping coefficient a = 0.36022, quadratic damping coefficient b = -0.023672, while heave natural period is 1,707 sec, linear damping coefficient a = 0.40328, quadratic damping coefficient b = 0.685230. The objective of the research was to study the influence of repeated extraction of raw gambiers from central production of gambier in West Sumatera province, Indonesia, namely Halaban district (AH), Mungka (AM), and Siguntur (AG) on the increase in content of catechins. Here we hybridized chitosan with TiO2nanoparticles to improve its bone regeneration capability. Morphology and crystallographic analysis showed that TiO2 nanoparticles in anatase-type were distributed evenly on the surface of the chitosan sponges. Degradation test showed a significant effect of TiO2 nanoparticles addition in retaining its integrity. We developed a simple method to fabricate micro-cages and caged tumor spheroids for microfluidic chip-based assays. The micro-cage device consists of an array of honeycomb compartments with a monolayer of cross-linked and agarose-coated gelatin nanofibers at the bottom and a mesh of 200 μm hole-size on the top. U87-MG single cells were dispersed through the mesh and resulted tumor spheroids confined in each of the cage compartment after incubation. As expected, the tumor spheroids are one-by-one distributed in each of the compartment with the same size and they grew inside the compartments. The final size of the spheroid was limited by both diffusion and confinement. If the height of the cage is small, the nanofiber layer underneath tumors could be deflected due to mechanic stress of growing tumors. Abstract :

Indonesia, as the largest palm oil production country, currently facing various criticisms from European countries related to environmental issues from Crude Palm Oil industries. One way to reduce the criticism impacts, is to obtain a certificate related to the sustainability of Crude Palm Oil industries, which issued by a national or even an international body. Based on the sustainability standards, POM (Palm Oil Mill) should prevent the gas emission/ methane gas generated from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) which emitted to the atmosphere. By captured methane gas and utilize as fuel for the boiler (biogas co-firing) or fuel for the gas engine for captive power, the emission gas amount emitted to the atmosphere can be reduced. All selected technologies in this study utilize biogas/methane gas.
